The Lake Clinic-Cambodia fields two clinical teams each week. From Monday through Wednesday TLC’s Lake Team provides primary health care and health education to floating villages on the Tonle Sap Lake. Villages marked with a red triangle show where TLC has placed a floating clinic. Other villages noted are those that we visit for just one day using one of our floating clinics as our staging area. The boats used by the Lake Team are moored in the stilted village of Kompong Khleang and from there the team travels to that week’s target-village(s). The nearest village, Moat Khlar, can be just a one and half hour journey from Kompong Khleang during the high water season, or a near three hour journey when the lake’s waters are at their lowest. The village of Peambang, our furthest, can be more than six hours away during the lake’s low season.
The River Team serves the village of Ksarchearos on the Stueng Sen River. The team leaves from Siem Reap on Tuesday mornings and drives to the provincial capital of Kompong Thom where their boat will be waiting. From that landing place the journey is about one and half hours down river to our floating clinic. The River Team returns to Siem Reap on Thusday afternoon/evening.
